Thursday’s trade was as slow as Wednesday’s and the several days before it. Friday will be no different.
Normally Friday would be a least a half-day like the Treasury and currency markets, due to the New Year’s Day holiday, but because of an accounting rule it will be a full day. Since the would-be day off (Friday) is the end of the month, an obscure accounting rule demands that the market must remain open.
Friday will probably be the lamest day of the previous two weeks, perhaps the entire year. It is hard to imagine that taking a day off will result in a missed opportunity. Therefore, if you do sleep in Friday, please have a safe and Happy New Year.
