Rip Van Winkle

by Larry Levin

For Rip Van Winkle was old and gray,
And twenty summers had passed away--
Yes, twenty winters of snow and frost etc...
Rip Van Winkle was a fictional character that slept a long...long...time. Today's trade felt like the story of 'ole Rip V.W. The market traded in an amazingly small range ahead of Tuesday's elections and Wednesday's currency debasement scam run by Ben Shalom Bernanke.
Ben's manic money printing scheme makes Bernie Madoff look like a piker. But Backstop-Ben says it is good for you; he has it all under control and you shouldn't worry. Moreover, you shouldn't question him. After all, he has a bunch of letters after his name that proves he's smarter than you. In the realm of the collegiate eggheads perhaps - but in the real world his money printing nonsense is getting out of control and yes, us "little" people understand what he's doing.
