Let's see: Higher oil prices, higher bond prices, a weak housing market, credit problems, a weak U.S. Dollar, possible bankruptcy rumor on Countrywide, and retailers reporting earning that are coming up short.
Is that enough bad news to keep this market moving lower? YOU BETCHA! Usually we see the market rally into a holiday like Thanksgiving. And we could even see a little short covering rally in the next day and a half.
But even if we do get a small rally, this market is under big pressure. This is bad news for people who are still long stocks and mutual funds. But it's great news for those people trading the stock index futures (like me and my students) because we can be short the market while it moves lower! I'll give thanks to that!!!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
